Syuentzang Temple

玄奘寺

It is a temple that enshrines Monk Xuanzan, who became a model in the Journey to the West. Xuanzang went to India in search of Buddhist texts and completed 1335 volumes while translating with his disciples, greatly contributing to the development of Chinese Buddhism. During the Sino-Japanese War, his remains were moved to Japan, but after the war they were returned to China, some of which are now housed in this temple.

Ci'en Pagoda

慈恩塔

Ci En Pagoda was built by the late President Chiang Kai-shek in memory of his mother. It was completed in April 1971 and sits on the 954 meter-high Shabalan Mountain.The pagoda is 46 meters tall, bringing its top to an even 1,000 meters above sea level. It has an imposing traditional Chinese style and is divided into nine stories. Visitors can climb to the top, where they have a magnificent view of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

Sights Information

Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum

Fo Guang Shan Temple is the best known Buddhist center in southern Taiwan and is the largest Buddhist monastery in Taiwan. In front of the statue is the Way to Buddhahood path flanked by Eight Pagodas on either side, making it perhaps the most magnificent Buddhist landmark.

Cijin Island

Cijin Island is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the province. The island is best known for its great beaches and numerous restaurants selling amazing seafood. Ferries also operate every 10 minutes, so you can easily go there.

Kaohsiung Museum of History

Kaohsiung Museum of History is located next to Love River, Kaohsiung City. The museum was reopened in 1998. The building itself was built in 1938, which means it is over 60 years old. Kaohsiung Museum of History is a professional museum, collecting and filing historical documents and objects in Kaohsiung.

Gaomei Wetlands

Located in Qingshui District in Taichung, Gaomei Wetlands is an ecological preservation zone in Central Taiwan. The best way to experience Gaomei Wetlands is during the late afternoon, where you can catch the sea breeze and watch the sun disappear below the horizon.
