Shiratani Unsui Gorge

白谷雲水峡

Shiratani Unsui Gorge was the setting of the primeval forest in the movie Princess Mononoke. Trekking courses range from 1 to 4 hours, and visitors can choose their route. Approximately 600 types of moss grow wild in the moss forest. When you reach Taikoiwa, which is 1,050 meters above sea level, the forest opens up to a spectacular view of the mountains, the sea, and the sky! If you are physically fit, please make your way to Taikoiwa!

千尋の滝

Nagata Inakahama Beach

永田いなか浜

Yakusugi Cedar Land

ヤクスギランド

It is a popular place for beginners because of its many easy walking trails, and five different trails ranging from 30 minutes to 3.5 hours have been created.
As the name suggests, this is a natural recreation forest where visitors can fully enjoy the Yakusugi cedars, which have unique names such as Budda cedar , Mother and child cedar and Twin cedar.

Jomon-sugi Cedar

縄文杉

The Jomon cedars are said to be over 7,000 years old. The path is 11 km one way and the elevation gain is 700 m. It is quite a challenge, but you will be very happy when you reach the cedar tree!
At 25 meters high and 16 meters in circumference, the presence of the cedar is overwhelming! It takes about 9-12 hours to reach the cedars, so be sure to leave early in the morning to give yourself plenty of time!

Mt.Miyanoura

宮之浦岳

Located almost in the center of Yakushima, it is the highest mountain in Kyushu at 1936 meters above sea level. It is also called Okudake because its peak cannot be seen from the coastline. The granite, weathered and eroded rock formations create a spectacular view. A two-day and one-night course combined with Jomon cedars is also popular among climbers.

Onsen

After trekking, the hot springs are the best! The hot springs of Yakushima are rare because they spring from near the sea. At Yudomari Onsen, you can enjoy a bath full of natural beauty with the ocean stretching out before you, while watching the sunset and listening to the sound of the waves. The Hirauchi Kainaka Onsen is a bath that can only be entered twice a day, before and after low tide.
