Ayutthaya Tour

An excursion to the ancient capital of Ayutthaya including a relaxing afternoon cruise along the 'River of Kings'.

Duration of tour: 9 hours

The Tour

Depart by coach for the former Siamese capital of Ayutthaya, some 70 km north of Bangkok. This formerly splendid city was sacked by Bamar forces in 1767, since which time it has fallen into ruin. Visit the remains of Wat Mahathat, one of the oldest in the city dating back to the 1400's. Wat Na Phramane is another example of ancient Ayutthayan architecture and houses a millenium-old green Buddha image. The highlight of mysterious Wat Lokayasutharam is its large reclining Buddha. Continue by coach to the Summer Palace at Bang Pa-In. The palace was revived in the 19th century by the Chakri kings, and has examples of Thai, Chinese and European architecture including the pretty pavillion in the lake called Aisawan Thippaya-Art. Return to Bangkok by boat along the scenic Chao Phraya River, the 'River of Kings'. A Thai buffet lunch is included on board.

Transportation by coach from River City pier to Ayutthaya, English speaking guide, entrance to Ayutthaya historical park and Bang Pa-In Summer Palace, buffet lunch and cruise from Nonthaburi province to Bangkok by River Sun yacht.
